ernan R. Hernández, A.I.A.
Hernán Hernández began his career in 1976, obtaining his license as an architect and working in both the private and public sectors of the business.  In 1986, he founded his own business, Hernán Hernández, Architects & Interior Designers.  Some of his clients included AT&T, Lederle Parenterals, Puerto Rico National Parks Trust and various municipal government agencies.  In 1992, Mr. Hernández joined with José R. Alayón to from Hernández & Alayón, Architects & Engineers, offering complete services of architecture, engineering, planning and interior design, up to their dissolution in 2006.

Hernán Hernández graduated from the University of Puerto Rico in 1975 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture.  He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, College of Architects of Puerto Rico and the American Society of Interior Designers.

Melvin Deyá - AAIA
He works on the designs of several public and private projects including an Artisan’s Center & Plaza in Río Grande, PR and a high-rise condominium in San Juan, PR.  Mr. Deyá also participated in the design of an apartment building in Gascue, Dominican Republic which was published by the architectural magazine “Urbe”.  He has worked in various architectural offices in Puerto Rico and has served as an architectural consultant for the “Deyá Elevators” since January 2001.

Homar Hernández - AAIA
He completed his studies in March 2004, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Architecture. He worked with Hernandez & Alayón up to their dissolution. He is currently working as an architectural designer of projects such as multi-dwelling apartment buildings, walk-up housing and educational facilities as well as various park facilities and commercial projects for clients in both the government and private sectors.


Roberto Tort Solá – Architect, Graphic Artist
Roberto L. Tort graduated from the School of Architecture U.P.R. in 1977. He was Partner to Hernán Hernández from 1984 working on, among others, the Development of the Master Plan, and the approval by the Planning Board of Caleta de Las Pardas, a 28 acre Development including Marina, Parador, Housing Units, Lots, Club House and recreational areas in Guánica P.R., and various Residential, Commercial & Institutional Projects.

He was a Professor for design courses in U.P.R. School of Architecture in 1983, a Project Inspector in Abbot Chemical Plant in Barceloneta P.R. for CMA Architects and Engineers, Supervisor and Estimator for Cimeco Construction Corp. and is a Graphic Artist, Calligrapher and Designer. He has been collaborating as a Consultant and Associate previous to joining ABACUS and has worked on various residential projects, in Site Planning, Programming and schematic design.
